GETTING STARTED
WHY STUDY AT RAGGED?
At Ragged, you can train while staying rooted in your local church. What you learn will strengthen your service where you already are. Our program offers training often overlooked by traditional theological schools—especially for those working in hard places, whether urban, rural, marginalized, or deprived. We’ll help you grow in your knowledge and use of the Bible, equipping pastors, women’s workers, youth workers, and church members alike to serve more effectively.
WHO CAN ATTEND RAGGED?
You don’t need to have a long list of qualifications to attend Ragged. In fact, you don’t need any! If you are committed to putting in the hard work and are faithfully attending the local church you are a member of, we would love to speak to you about enrolling at Ragged. Don’t let previous bad experience of education put you off either. Our whole course is geared to help you grasp the content and be able to use it in your life and ministry. It’s also important to note that our staff are experienced in helping people with neurodivergence.

HOW DOES THE TEACHING TAKE PLACE?
Our teaching takes place in a variety of ways. Students in Scotland will generally attend in-person at one of our hubs where a facilitator will guide you through pre-recorded videos, lead you in classroom discussion and answer any questions you have. Those who can’t attend a hub will work through exactly the same material as part of an online cohort.
Our teaching style is based on community learning and all of our teaching and assessments are tailored in such a way that they enable and equip you as you serve in your local church.
HOW MUCH WORK IS THERE?
Students will have access to the Ragged portal which will enable them to complete their weekly reading in preparation of the classes and complete the weekly comprehension tests which cover that week’s class material. Students will also use the portal to submit their final assessment for each module which will either be an exam, an essay or a presentation.
Each year is split into 2 semesters and students will cover 3 modules per semester. Students will progress through the modules 1 module at a time.
